FRANKIE PAYNE,
Celebrity Hair Stylist
To achieve that beautiful sexy just stepped out of the ocean water look on Eva Mendez in GQ, Frankie used Sea Spray from John Frieda. "It helps to break up hair and give that wet look when you apply it to damp hair," he says.
Frankie Payne is Rachel Griffith's personal hair stylist. If you caught Natalie Imbruglia's video "Wrong Impression" or the March 2002 issue of GQ Magazine with Eva Mendez, or saw a recent picture of N'SYNC, Cristina Ricci or Rachel Lee Cook then you've seen his work and the special touch that makes these celebs look their very best.
To achieve that beautiful sexy just stepped out of the ocean water look on Eva Mendez in GQ, Frankie used Sea Spray from John Frieda. "It helps to break up hair and give that wet look when you apply it to damp hair," he says. With N'SYNC, I've used Prive pomade mouse and TiGi's pomade stick to spike the boys' hair and give that messy look that you see in almost every magazine on every boy model. Hair Wax is one of my favorites when I'm trying to give hair shine and I also need strong hold. It also helps control those stubborn fly aways. I wouldn't leave home without John Frieda, Bumble&Bumble and Prive products in my kit.
To straighten hair, I like relaxing balms from Prive. Then for shine, I like Shine Serum, also from Prive.
When a client needs more hair than they actually have, Frankie heads over to Naimies Beauty Center in Sherman Oaks, California. He secures the wefts with bonding glue.
Frankie's best advice: There's only so much magic we can
do as hair stylists. The truth is, nothing takes the place of a good hair
cut. Always carry a good razor to cut hair with and some different color
pomades for temporary hair color, which come in handy once in a while.
Don't forget your curling irons and flat iron's which are two of the most
important tools in my kit. Stay tuned for Frankie's work on Rachel Griffith
in an upcoming issue of Australian Vogue.
